What You Need To Know About Lip Fillers

What You Need To Know About Lip Fillers

In most parts of your body, losing volume and looking slimmer is a good thing. But in your lips, a reduction in volume can mean thinner lips that make you appear older and less attractive.

Losing volume in your lips is a normal part of aging. But an aesthetic procedure known as dermal fillers can help restore fullness and bring attractive plumpness to your lips.

At Encino Park Family Health & Wellness Clinic in San Antonio, Texas, our aesthetic care providers are highly skilled in using dermal lip fillers and a full range of other treatments that revitalize your appearance and make you look more youthful. Here, we explain what you need to know about lip fillers.

Older looking lips

Your body produces a protein known as collagen that is its own natural filler. Collagen helps your skin and lips appear firm and young by filling them with healthy-looking volume.

As you age, however, your body produces less collagen, leading to thinner skin that leaves imperfections no place to hide. When collagen levels go down, fine lines, wrinkles, sags, and other skin problems appear and become more obvious. Your lips may also appear rougher than before.

Lip fillers help make up for what age takes away with decreased collagen production. Fillers are a type of injectable substance that adds volume to your lips. Lip fillers help cause lines, wrinkles, and puckers to disappear. And they add plumpness that will remind you of how your lips looked when you were younger.

In addition to making lips look fuller, dermal fillers can also give them a smoother, silkier, and fresher appearance.

How lip fillers work

Here at Encino Park Family Health & Wellness, our aesthetic care experts use injectable lip filler products from Juvéderm® and Restylane®. These products, which both contain a compound known as hyaluronic acid, offer a safe and effective way to introduce additional volume and smoothness to your lips.

The type of filler we recommend depends on a number of factors, including your aesthetic goals, budget, and how soon you would like to see results. We use extremely tiny needles to minimize any possible chance of discomfort. We can often combine lip filler treatment and other aesthetic treatments into one convenient office visit.

Treatment typically takes as little as 15 minutes and results last anywhere from three months to one year. When results start to diminish, quick follow-up treatment can refresh your lips’ plump appearance.
